Prague, Czech Republic
Prague is one of the most amazing places I have ever been. You never know where to look because everywhere is so beautiful! The cobblestone streets and colorful houses give it an old town look but there are also so many little shops and restaurants. On Wednesday we walked across the Charles Bridge and visited the Prague Castle. After the walk through the castle we walked down the Golden Lane. This little street was one of my favorite parts of the trip! It is a narrow street with a bunch of old houses on the left that are now little shops. We stopped inside a few & I bought a couple of handmade souvenirs for my family! For lunch we got a traditional Czech meal, “goulash” which is like a soup with meat and vegetables inside. It was actually really good! We also visited the John Lennon wall which was really cool. We finished off our long day of walking with a “trdelník”. It’s like a donut ice cream cone that you can get filled with strawberries, chocolate, caramel, or ice cream. We watched the dough spin around on a hot stick over coals then get filled with fresh strawberries and Nutella. It was incredible. I highly recommend anyone traveling to Prague to try one! After a little break at the hotel we got some “dinner”. I don’t recommend eating at a restaurant that has a worker outside prying you in. Ben ordered a steak with cream sauce and when it came out it was a piece of mystery meat with whipped cream on top and Monica’s chicken noodle soup had grey chicken. The night got much better afterward when we all had our first Ice Bar experience. When we got there we were handed gloves and space jackets. When we entered the bar we were hit with the -4° chill & saw the ice sculptures of palm trees, barrels, and a throne. Even the glasses for our drinks were made of ice! We finished the night off at an Irish Pub then went back to the hotel for some sleep before another day of walking around beautiful Prague!
