Munich, Germany

On Friday we left for Munich for our ART188 study tour. We stopped in Füssen on Friday night to eat dinner, walk around, and sleep. In the morning we visited the Neuschwanstein castle. It was amazing! The castle is what influenced Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle. We got a tour of the inside then got back on the bus to head to Munich. Once we got there we had a couple of hours to relax in the hotel before our 2 hour walking tour. We got to walk around the city and get dinner. We were so tired that we ended up getting Mcdonalds haha. On Sunday we visited the Lehnbachhaus Museum where I gave a presentation on Paul Klee. This was my favorite museum of the trip because we got to see a bunch of old paintings on our own and hear different stories explaining them. Next we visited the Brandhorst Museum where we ate at the cafe & saw some modern art. The cafe was great buuut the tour was a bit painful. The guide made us sit down and stare at a white block and interpret what it was trying to tell us. People were staring at us staring at a white block and the art wasn’t that interesting. The last museum was the Pinakothek der Moderne. All we had to do was find a piece of artwork that “spoke” to us and browse around the museum. Finally, we went back to the hotel to freshen up and then headed to the Hofbräuhaus for dinner! We all sat upstairs and ate sauerkraut, potato dumplings, some pork thing and drank wheat beer. The beer kind of tasted like Natty, which I probably shouldn’t say since it’s supposed to be the best beer I’ll ever taste, but I enjoyed it. After the group dinner some of us went downstairs to get a liter of the Hofbräu Original beer. It was a lot of fun! We drank & played Pikalo until the restaurant closed for the night. On Monday, Monica and I decided to go downstairs to get breakfast at the hotel in our pajamas then go back up to change after.. Do not make the same mistake we did haha. I walked in with my shorts, Phi Mu long sleeve and Uggs & got stared at until we left. We went back upstairs & got ready for the day, then came back downstairs to try again. Monday and Tuesday were filled with more museums but we ended early on Tuesday and headed to Prague!
