Mark & Rachel’s Engagement Shoot

Hey guys! So I originally started this blog to document my travels while I was abroad. Well, I decided to keep up with it and use it for photography posts too!
I started taking photography classes in high school and fell in love with it. I received my first real camera, a Canon rebel t5i, as a graduation present a few years ago. Since then, I’ve used it here and there to snap pictures of my friends & to film for promotional videos. I always thought it would be fun to take engagement pictures, couple pictures, etc. and get paid for something I love to do! I finally got that opportunity. I have taken pictures of my friends Morgan and Kylie on several occasions, just for fun so they can post them on Instagram. Morgan’s sister saw the pictures and asked if I would take her engagement pictures! I was so excited and really nervous, since this would be my first official shoot and this couple would have these photos for the rest of their lives. I said yes and studied up before the shoot. They were so laid back and flexible that it made my first time so easy! They chose a beautiful location & the weather was perfect. We started shooting around 7:15pm and wrapped up at 8:30pm. The sun really worked in our favor, the pictures turned out beautiful! I chose manual mode & switched my ISO and white balance according to the lighting changes. I read that a low aperture and 1/200 shutter speed would make the photos turn out really well. With my lens, the lowest aperture I could use was around a 5.2, so I had to make my ISO higher than I would have liked, but they still turned out really well! The space was so large that it looked like we went to multiple locations to take the photos when we were really in the same area the whole time. Mark and Rachel were so easy and fun to work with. Their go-with-the-flow attitude and confidence in me put me at ease so I could just have fun with the shoot! I’m so grateful that they were the couple for my first job.
It was a great experience and they loved the photos! They even asked me to photograph their wedding next June! I’m so happy that the photos turned out great & more importantly that they loved them.
