Aaron & Leah's Wedding

After a long struggle of trying to figure out how to fix my blog template, I finally succeeded! Now I can post again :)

Last month I assisted the beautiful Lex King in photographing a wedding at Five Fillies Farm. I had reached out to her earlier & asked if I could follow her around and see how she goes about photographing a wedding. She is so sweet and answers all of my millions of questions whether it be over text or when I assist. She's awesome & such an inspiration to me! Since I would be returning to school, I was only able to assist her this one time, but it helped me so much!

I got there around 10 am to shoot everyone getting ready. This part was interesting because it was a small room and the lighting was very warm. Lex helped me adjust my settings and I crept in and out of places to get some good shots. Once everyone was ready, Lex took the bride down to the barn & I waited for the groom. It was time for the first look shot!! I was so excited, these are my favorite shots photographers get. As I positioned the groom to face away from the bride, she came up behind him and tapped his shoulder. Once he saw her he immediately started crying. This moment made me want to shoot weddings for the rest of my life, how precious is this moment?!

We continued taking pictures before heading back up for the ceremony. It was pretty quick, then we grabbed the bridesmaids and groomsmen for some bridal party shots. I was in charge of the groomsmen & they were all pretty drunk haha the pictures turned out really funny though. After a few pictures we headed up to the reception. This couple loved to party so their reception started pretty early & ended late. I got some photos of the newlyweds cutting the cake, the best man and maid of honor speeches, and the first dances. Shortly after, my battery died & this is when I learned that a back up is a necessity haha I used Lex's second camera and fell in LOVE. I am saving all of my photography money to buy that camera. She has a mark 6d and 7d. I think I used the 6d with a 55mm lens & the shots turned out amazing.

My first wedding was a success & I'm so glad I have a wedding to look forward to in June!! Hopefully I'll have enough money saved to at least buy a 55mm lens!
