Interlaken and Lucerne, Switzerland

On Monday we woke up and enjoyed a nice breakfast of eggs, yogurt and croissants. After we finished eating we hopped on a train to Lauterbrunnen where it took us up part of the mountain. It was a cute little town with some shops, but most of them were closed since it is the off season. We decided to go higher up the mountain to where the snow was. We got off at Mürren and admired the view. The train ride up the hill was insane! We went from grassy mountains to a mountain covered in snow. There were a bunch of houses and shops on this part mountain as well, but it was much more beautiful than the bottom. We grabbed some sweatshirts at a little store then stopped in the restaurant next door for lunch. After walking off our lunch we decided to take the train back to Interlaken. When we got back we walked around and stopped in some more shops before visiting the hospital where my dad used to work. He did part of his residency at a hospital in west Interlaken, so we walked there and he showed us around the inside a little bit to explain where he lived & what floor he did his work on. It was really cool that he got to show us that since it was such an impactful part of his life! When we were done at the hospital we walked to a popular bierhaus for dinner. We drank some Interlaken beer and ate German food then walked back to the hotel. On Tuesday we woke up & took a train to Lucerne. The forecast called for rain all day but when we got there the sun was out and the sky was blue. Our hotel was right on the water with an amazing view of the mountains and bridge. We threw our stuff in the room then walked around to check out the shopping. We took a break around 2 to get some soup and walk up a hill to check out the giant castle that sat there. It was an old fortress but all that was inside was an old town clock. There was a small farm next to the castle with chickens, alpacas & bulls. We walked past them and we were automatically in the city again. It’s so cool that you can be by a farm one minute, the city the next, then be on the top of a mountain in 30 minutes. Logan and I did some more shopping before heading back to the hotel to change for dinner. We went to another German place & got sausages and rosti. At this point I don’t think I can eat German food for at least another year haha. After dinner we waddled back to the hotel in the snow to get some sleep.
